My Bio by Luis H. Flores III My story I could write a book I do not know if it would sell any way I will tell you about me. I was born in May,31,1941 in San Antonio, Texas all the time that I lived in San Antonio I lived in the west side. For me school was not easy. When I was 7 years old, my father abandoned us. After that my mother and father got a divorced. We were so poor because my father never contributed to our support. My mother was forced to raise 4 children by her self with little or no help at all. Many times she could not buy us clothes or food. Many times we got evicted from our home because she could not pay the rent. At one point we were entirely homeless. My brother and I would do any thing to earn some money. When I was in the third and fourth grade we use to go to sell paper after school in down town San Antonio. When I was 10 or 11 years old I worked in a store all summer for 1 dollar a day and later, I worked after school for a few months. When I was in Irving I was thinking of quitting school and going to work but my brother beat me to it, he was younger then me 13 or 14 years old. Although my brother was working I always worked part time when I was going to Tech and before. In 1956 when I was going to Irving I met the love of my life Mary Elizabeth Zamora after going together for over 5 years in Sept. 1961 we got married. In Sept 2011 we will be married 50 years. We have 3 children Olivia, Luis the IV, and Virginia. And we have 4 grand children and 4 great grand children. In the 60s a lot of people from San Antonio Texas & Tech were moving to Calif. in search of a better life and I was one of them. In 1963 8 of us got in a car and left for California. My wife, me and two of our children. My brother his, wife and two of his children. In the beginning I worked at different jobs and in the end, I settle in the work that I use to do in San Antonio the grocery industry. I worked for Von's a division of Save Way. Before I retired I managed to put 27 years into my retirement in the United Food & Commercial workers Unions. In 1997 I had a stroke and had to retire.
